Sea kayaking at the Mason Lake, WA (2-11-2011)- 10 miles loop.
It was a PWC paddling event sponsored by Bob McBride. I was yearning for paddling since my last paddling was more than a month ago on 1 Jan 2012. Since the last paddle, I participated a couple of kayak pool sessions with the Tacoma Mountaineers to practice my roll. I now believe that I have the roll by understanding its feel and its right motion. Well, it was a fun day as always joining Bob and several PWC paddlers on a slighly cloudy day.
Mason Lake is an elongated lake south of Belfair, WA in Mason County (33 miles south from Silverdale/Bremerton). Mason Lake (about 1000 acres) is the second largest freshwater lake in Mason country (Lake Cushman (4010 acre) in the Staircase area is the biggest !). It was named after Charles H. Mason, the first secretary of Washington Territory.
The scenery was the houses around the lake. More than a thousand residents live yearlong around the shores of Mason Lake. Bob is a retired US Navy Civil Engineer who is keenly interested in looking at varous style of architecture. It is pleasure being around Bob.
